Cookie Policy
Last updated: 21 January, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how Finding Your Way Psychotherapy (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses them on findingyourwaypsychotherapy.ie, and the choices you have to control them.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, phone) when you visit a website. Cookies help websites function properly, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use the site.
Cookies can be:
- Session cookies (deleted when you close your browser), or
- Persistent cookies (remain for a set period or until you delete them).
Cookies may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by third parties whose services we use (third-party cookies).
2. How we use cookies
We may use cookies for the following purposes:
A) Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as navigating pages or setting privacy preferences.
Examples: security, load balancing, cookie preference settings.
B) Functional cookies
These cookies help the site remember choices you make and provide enhanced features.
Examples: remembering preferences such as language, region, or display settings.
C) Analytics / performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website (for example, which pages are visited most, time spent on pages, and any errors). This helps us improve the site.
Analytics cookies do not aim to identify you personally.
Examples: WordPress.com Stats and/or Google Analytics (if enabled).
D) Marketing / advertising cookies (optional)
These cookies may be used to deliver adverts that are more relevant to you, and to measure the effectiveness of advertising. They can also be used to build a profile of your interests.
Important: Finding Your Way Psychotherapy may not use marketing cookies at launch. If marketing cookies are introduced in future, this policy will be updated and (where required) your consent will be requested.
Examples: Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel, Google Ads remarketing (if enabled).
3. Cookie consent and choices
Where required, we ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies (such as analytics or marketing cookies). You can:
- Accept all cookies
- Reject non-essential cookies
- Customise your preferences
You can also change your choices at any time by using [Cookie Preferences link/button] if available on the site.
If the site does not provide a cookie preferences tool yet, you can still control cookies via your browser settings (see section 6).
4. Third-party cookies
We may use third-party services that set their own cookies. These providers process data under their own privacy and cookie policies.
Depending on what is enabled on the site, third-party cookies may include:
- Website platform tools: [WordPress.com / Squarespace] features
- Analytics: [WordPress.com Stats] and/or [Google Analytics]
- Embedded content: video players (e.g. YouTube/Vimeo), maps, or social media embeds
- Booking tools (if embedded): [Calendly / Acuity / other]
Embedded content may behave as if you visited the third-party site directly and may set cookies accordingly.
5. Cookie list
Cookies can change depending on the platform and tools enabled (analytics, embeds, booking tools). For that reason, the exact cookie names and durations may vary.
If you want a fully itemised cookie table, we recommend:
- running a cookie scan once the site is live, and
- listing cookies by category (necessary / functional / analytics / marketing), including name, purpose, provider, and duration.
We can add this table later once Louise finalises the setup.
6. How to control cookies in your browser
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through settings. You can typically:
- delete cookies,
- block all cookies,
- block third-party cookies, or
- allow cookies only for certain sites.
Be aware: blocking some cookies may affect how the website functions.
Browser help pages:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
7. Updates to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add new services (analytics, embedded booking, or marketing tools). The latest version will always be published on this page with the updated date.
